Not another contractor directory. Not a generic AI chatbot. Artes is a structured preconstruction review designed to help homeowners understand what contractor proposals actually say—and what they do not say.
I’m Derek Armer, founder of Artes Works.
I’m a construction superintendent and licensed commercial and residential contractor in Arkansas, with more than 15 years of hands-on experience in construction, carpentry, project management, estimating, and working directly with owners and subcontractors.
Throughout my career, I’ve managed multi-million-dollar construction projects and reviewed countless contracts, scopes of work, proposals, change orders, schedules, drawings, and specifications.
One problem continues to show up: homeowners are often asked to make one of the largest financial decisions of their lives using contractor proposals that are extremely difficult to compare.
Two contractors may appear to be bidding the same project while making completely different assumptions about allowances, materials, responsibilities, exclusions, schedules, or what is actually included in their price.
That is why I created Artes Works.
The goal is not to tell homeowners which contractor to hire. It is to give them better information before they make that decision—to help identify differences, uncover unanswered questions, and make the construction process easier to understand.
Better questions lead to better conversations. Better information leads to better decisions.
